“Perfect people do not fight, do not lie, do not make mistakes and do not exist”, Aristotle claimed from the heights of his wisdom. Yet in today’s society, looking your best seems to have become an inescapable dictate, the only way to gain consideration and acceptance.
It is the result of a primal survival instinct that drives the individual to behave and appear as and better than others in order to fit in.
In a parallel world, Matteo Cervone’s traffic light men, with their luminous contours, appear without filters or frills, authentic in their simplicity. Reflecting the light they have within them, they manage to give value to their own originality, and this is enough to identify them to the eye, to make them perfect.

Interview on Juliet Art Magazine
[…] His focus is on the expression of relationships with others and with oneself, expressed through inanimate media. Matteo observes the objects that populate the streets […] and, with a unique and special skill, weaves a dialogue with them. The author explores the deeper meaning of street signs, creating a visual experience that invites the audience to reflect on their deepest emotions.
One thing is for sure: once you have seen Matteo Cervone’s work, you will never look at traffic lights in the same way again!
